The first-place Minneapolis Freeze took on the Joplin Fireballs at The Ice Box.

The Minneapolis Freeze got a strong performance from pitcher Julio Arreola, who stymied the Joplin offense en route to a 4-2 win at The Ice Box. Pete DeCaprio was credited with the save for Minneapolis, his 4th of the season.

Chris Saipe had a go-ahead single for Minneapolis in the bottom of the seventh inning. With one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, the 25-year old left fielder hit a run-scoring single off Aaron Farmer. His 101st hit of the season made the score 3-2.

"Baseball is about momentum," said Arreola, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."

The first-place Freeze, at 63-29, now lead their division by 6 games.
