The Minneapolis Freeze handed the Joplin Fireballs a 6-5 loss in 10 innings at The Ice Box. Kenny Cox was the star on offense. He was 2-4 with a double and a walk. He scored 2 times. Terry Brulhart earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record is now 2-4. The win gives Minneapolis a season record of 40-37.

The decisive blow was delivered by Edwin Timmermans in the bottom of the tenth when he hit a run-scoring double off 18-year old right-handed pitcher John Nauss to win the game for Minneapolis. The home crowd went nuts.

"It took some blood and sweat, but we got what we were after," said Freeze manager Ben Jeffcoat.
