The Thunder Bay Black Bears defeated the Hendersonville Hens, 7-3. Catcher Tomas Cruz deserved a large share of the credit. Cruz went 1-2 with a home run and 3 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Black Bears. Ricky Plasencia picked up the win in relief for Thunder Bay, while Jose Ayala took the loss. The 6th-place Black Bears have won 4 straight.

With Thunder Bay leading 2-0 in the bottom of the third, Cruz hit a changeup from Jose Ayala for a 2-run home run. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Black Bears ahead, 4-0.

"Winning is all that really matters and we got it done today," Cruz told the Thunder Bay Bulletin.
