The Memphis Privateers defeated the Amarillo Armadillos, 4-3, at Armadillos Park. Memphis was led by 21-year old left fielder Nick Simmons, who was 2 for 3 with a home run and a double. Carlos Acevez snagged the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits over 1.1 innings. He's now 4-0 on the season. The save went to Steve Hoefling, his 11th this season.

Bill Bollard came through with a big-time hit for Memphis. The pinch hitter smacked a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 4-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

After the game, Memphis manager Bryant Thomas applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.

The Privateers are now 43-46, while the Armadillos fall to 44-45.
