Getting a good performance from third baseman Rob Heyward, the Minneapolis Freeze defeated the Billings Mustangs, 5-2. Heyward went 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Freeze. The win was credited to Victor Hernandez in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Bobby Avila took the loss. Matthew Otto earned the save for Minneapolis.

With Minneapolis leading 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth, Heyward hit a changeup from Bobby Avila for a 2-run home run. It was his 19th home run of the season and put the Freeze ahead, 5-2.

"Nervous? No," said Heyward. "It was my time to shine."

With the win, Minneapolis goes to 38-36, while the Mustangs fall to 27-49.
