Hitmen Top Canadians, 6-2
|
It was a fun time at Mckinley Park, where the Vancouver Canadians and Calgary Hitmen tangled.
Behind a solid performance from second baseman John Begley, the Calgary Hitmen defeated the Vancouver Canadians, 6-2. Begley was 2-4 with a double and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Hitmen. Juan Adorno picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-1. Yoshiyuki Matsuda was tagged with the loss. Kevin Lewis got the save, the 23rd for him this season.
Begley had a key at-bat for Calgary early in the game. With the bases loaded, he hit a bases-clearing double. It was his 26th double of the season and gave Calgary an early 5-2 lead.
"My job is to go out and play as hard as I can for the Hitmen," said Begley.
Calgary occupies third place in the RCL AAA Bobby Cox Division at 43-46.
