The Calgary Cowboys scored a tight, 4-3 win versus the Peoria Caterpillars at Excavatar Park. Calgary pitcher Jose del Real held his own in the contest. del Real, now 8-4, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 2, walking 3, and allowing 3 runs. Roberto Mendez, who is tied for 6th in the RAAA in holds with 4, earned the save for Calgary.
Calgary used a clutch at-bat from Myles Leyte to capture the win. The shortstop hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Cowboys ahead, 4-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"I like what I saw today," said Calgary manager Thomas Hughes, "and I can't wait to get back out there and do it again."
The victory gives Calgary a record of 50-36.
