Bison Rebuff Texans, 6-4
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the Dallas Texans and Bighorn Bison get after it.
The Bighorn Bison defeated the Dallas Texans, 6-4, at Ram Brewery Ballpark. Bighorn was led by 28-year old left fielder Tony Mares, who was 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Bighorn reliever Zach Phillips snagged the win, upping his record to 2-0. Mike Boyle shouldered the loss. Israel Cancel got credit for the save for Bighorn. It was his 5th of the year.
Mares had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a first pitch curveball from Mike Boyle, he banged a 2-run home run to center, giving the Bison a 6-4 lead. It was the 2nd home run of the year for Mares.
Mares said his team "played with focus and determination."
The loss drops Dallas to 12-9.
