Hitmen Take Down Cacti, 4-1
|
Ray Saltzman pitched a gem to lead Calgary to a 4-1 victory over the Albuquerque Cacti. Saltzman, now 4-7, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 1, walking 3, and allowing 1 earned run. Calgary now sits in second place in the RCL AAA Bobby Cox Division at 41-43.
The result might have been different for Calgary, had it not been for James Rye. The left fielder produced a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Hitmen ahead, 2-0. For the game, Rye had 1 double and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.
"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Saltzman.
