Calgary pitcher Ricky Sanchez had a large part in his team subduing the Calgary Cowboys, 3-1. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the left-hander. In 8 innings, Sanchez surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 5. He allowed 1 run. Calgary raised its record to 44-26 with the win.

Whip Dondale had a big solo home run for the Hitmen in the bottom of the fourth inning. The result was his 10th home run of the season, which put the Hitmen on top, 2-0.

"I'm proud of the way we took care of business and got the 'W' today," Sanchez told the Calgary Chronicle. "Whatever it takes."
