The Albuquerque Cacti dealt the Detroit Death Stars a 9-5 loss at The Death Star. Mark McGwire Jr. was the star on offense. He went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. The Cacti improved to 39-41.

The result might have been different for Albuquerque, had it not been for Junzo Takenaka. The second baseman produced a 2-run single in the top of the sixth inning to put the Cacti ahead, 4-3. For the game, Takenaka had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
