Gene Crowell put on a hitting clinic as the Billings Mustangs dumped the Reno Raiders, 23-10, at House of Pain.

The Billings second baseman made Reno defenders earn their pay, lashing Reno pitching for 5 hits in 7 at-bats in the game. He told BNN reporters after the game that his strategy was "just hit it where they pitched it."

"Too often I try too hard to pull the ball," Crowell said in his postgame press conference. "Today, I just went with the pitch."

Gene Crowell doubled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, flied out in the 5th, struck out in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
