Canadians Come Up Short at Minneapolis
|
Minneapolis first baseman Mike Mathers made his presence felt in the 6-5 Freeze triumph over the Vancouver Canadians. Mathers was 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Julio Arreola earned the win to go to 2-2. He allowed 2 earned runs on 5 hits, with 5 walks and 6 strikeouts. Minneapolis has an impressive 53-26 record.
Brandon Campion, who is tied for 9th in the TAAA in total bases with 153, helped out the Minneapolis cause in the bottom of the second inning with a run-scoring triple. For the game, the shortstop went 2 for 4 with 2 triples. He scored 2 times and drove in 2.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Minneapolis manager Jim Crawford.
