Montreal Decked, 5-3, by Eclipse
|
The Chicago Eclipse topped the Montreal Mounties, 5-3, with shortstop Larry Gilliland playing a big role. Gilliland went 4 for 4 with a home run, a triple, and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs for the Eclipse in the win. Joe McKnight picked up the win, lifting his record to 3-1 on the season. He struck out 2 and walked 3 in 7.2 innings, while yielding 3 runs. Joe Umlah earned the save for Chicago, his 2nd.
The Eclipse got a big at-bat from catcher Brad Davidson. For the game, Davidson was 1 for 3 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a grand slam home run. His 4th home run of the season gave Chicago a 4-0 lead.
"We did a lot of really good things and it was a good win," said Eclipse manager Demetrio Recchia.
The loss has the Mounties at 15-10.
