The Amarillo Armadillos topped the Fort Worth Cats, 5-4, in TML AAA action at LaGrave Field. The standout performance belonged to Amarillo pitcher and La Vega, Dominican Republic, native Franklin Lucero. The win went to Wayne Blanchard in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Brady Metro took the loss. The save went to Drew Sherman, his 3rd this season.
Matt Griffin drew 1 walk in 5 trips to the plate for Amarillo. The 19-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the eighth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Brady Metro. It was his 50th RBI of the season.
"I went out and just tried to do my job," said Lucero.
Amarillo is now 36-39, Fort Worth 31-42.
