Fireballs Subdue Marshals, 7-2
|
Joplin and San Jose got after it at The Corral.
The Joplin Fireballs topped the San Jose Marshals, 7-2, in TMLAAA action at The Corral. The player of the game was Joplin pitcher and San Miguelito, Panama native Edwin Santiago. Santiago went the distance for Joplin. He gave up 2 earned runs on 8 hits.
Joplin needed the clutch hitting of Dane Hedges to notch the win. The shortstop hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Fireballs on top, 4-0. For the game, Hedges had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"I thought we played a nice game," Hedges told the Joplin Bulletin. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
Joplin is now 33-40, San Jose 42-30.
