Flash Get Road Win, 8-4
|
The Fairfield Flash knocked off the Baton Rouge Outlaws, 8-4, at Coca Cola Stadium. Eric Marino, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Fairfield won. The first baseman went 3 for 3 with 3 singles and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times. Patrick Blakey, who went 5 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 2 runs on 5 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 7. His record now stands at 6-2. The Flash' win now puts them at 38-34.
With runs few and far between, the Flash had to seize their opportunities when they came. One of the most important chances for Fairfield came in the top of the third inning, when right fielder Alex Fernandez delivered a 3-run home run. The home run was hit off Jose Acosta and made the score 4-1, Flash. Fernandez was 1 for 5 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.
"If I do my job, we've usually got a good chance to win the game," said Fernandez.
