Curiel Helps Black Bears Run Win Streak to 5
|
The Thunder Bay Black Bears knocked off the Joplin Fireballs, 5-1, at The Firepit. Tony Curiel was a big reason Thunder Bay won. The left fielder went 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. Grant Warren earned the win for Thunder Bay. He lasted 7.2 innings, allowing 1 run on 8 hits, while striking out 4. With the win, he raised his record to 2-1. Bobby Boeckner locked down his 3rd save.
Early in the game, Curiel had a 2-run home run for Thunder Bay. It was his 5th home run of the season and put the Black Bears on top, 3-1.
Said Joplin manager Daniel Petro: "You just have to tip your cap sometimes."
The Black Bears have a winning streak of 5 games.
