Pedro Leon could take little solace in pitching a good game. The fact is his Cozumel Beaches lost, dropping a 3-2 decision to the Amarillo Armadillos at Armadillos Park. The winner was Franklin Lucero, who threw 87 pitches over 5.2 innings. The right-hander was charged with 2 runs on 8 hits. The save went to Tom Hughes, his 2nd this season.
Third Baseman James Adkinson made an impact for Amarillo, when he swatted a 2-run home run off Pedro Leon in the bottom of the fourth. For the contest, Adkinson went 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"That's baseball," said Cozumel manager Masato Takagi. "Sometimes the other team plays better than yours."
Amarillo now sits at 34-36, while Cozumel falls to 32-38.
