The Thunder Bay Black Bears defeated the Fairfield Flash, 5-1, in RCL AAA action at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. Thunder Bay pitcher Garrett Dwyer had a standout performance. The winner was Dwyer. He threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Victor Ramirez. By defeating Fairfield, the 6th-place Black Bears improved to 26-34.

It could have been a different outcome for Thunder Bay, had it not been for Josh Beaty, the slick-fielding third baseman . Beaty contributed a run-scoring double in the top of the fourth inning to put Thunder Bay up, 2-0.

Beaty attributed the win to his team's "hyper resolve."
