Marshals Beat Argonauts in 10
|
Despite a fine performance by designated hitter Salvatore del Villar, the Astoria Argonauts suffered a 6-5 loss to the San Jose Marshals. del Villar was 3 for 3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Rob Casey picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-1. Danny Moreno was tagged with the loss. The winning streak has now reached 6 games for San Jose.
The Argonauts had been locked in a 5-5 tie with the Marshals going into the bottom of the tenth inning. That changed quickly when the 29-year old shortstop Jesus Rosendo came to the plate. Rosendo hit a run-scoring single on a 2-0 fastball from Astoria hurler Danny Moreno. It was Rosendo's 20th hit of the year.
"We're a talented bunch when we're playing well," said Rosendo. "I think we showed that here."
