The Joplin Fireballs defeated the Fairfield Flash, 9-3, in part because of center fielder Victor Navedo. Navedo was 2 for 3 with a double and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Fireballs. Sean Lapinski earned the win to go to 1-5. He allowed 2 runs on 7 hits, with 4 walks and 5 strikeouts in 5.1 innings of work. The save went to Jaime Clayman, his 4th this season.

The Fireballs benefited from an error in the top of the sixth inning. Joplin was leading 3-2 when Robby Baker hit a 2-run single that was misplayed. It put Joplin in front, 5-2.

"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Baker.

Joplin is 27-37 and Fairfield, with the loss, 30-35.
