Thunder Bay Black Bears starter Brett Johnson was locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Bowling Green Racers, 5-2. Thunder Bay reliever Guo-xiu Du picked up the win, upping his record to 2-2. Gary Compton was saddled with the loss. Smokin' Jack Mathews was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 2 of 3 save opportunities.

A crucial at-bat came with the bases empty and no one out in the bottom of the sixth inning. That's when left fielder Chikashi Matsubara, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2043 draft, hit a triple. The Black Bears went on to win.

"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Johnson.

With the victory, the Black Bears record now stands at 22-39.
