Gremlins Curb Butterflies, 3-1
|
The Houghton Gremlins earned a close win over the Pennsylvania Butterflies, thanks in part to Brian Douglas. The Houghton right-hander played a key role in the 3-1 victory. Houghton pitcher Luis Moreno got the win. He's now 1-1. Norm Anglin was tagged with the loss. Chris Wethington finished to wrap up his 4th save.
Houghton used a timely hit from Adam Pappalardo to get the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Gremlins ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"Every loss stings," said Pennsylvania manager Aaron Barnes. "This one is no exception."
The Gremlins are off to an underwhelming start as they look to defend their championship, notching only their 8th win in 19 games.
