Caterpillars Grind Out 2-1 Win
|
The Peoria Caterpillars claimed a close win over the Albany Firebirds, due in large part to Jason Englert. The Peoria right-hander pitched a great game to secure the 2-1 win. The winner was Englert. He threw 8.0 innings of 7-hit ball. The loser was Lesmana Susanti. Jordan Curry collected save number 7.
Had Warren Azar not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Azar hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Caterpillars.
"Thought I threw pretty well and overall I felt good," said Englert.
Peoria is now 23-28, while Albany is 28-24.
