Freeze Solve Death Stars, 6-2
|
The Minneapolis Freeze topped the Detroit Death Stars by the score of 6-2, with the largest share of the credit going to second baseman Dave Dimond. Dimond was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Freeze. Melvin Arambula converted his 2nd save in 2 tries. Minneapolis goes to 39-18. The win puts them 4½ games up in their division.
Dimond contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Minneapolis in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 2-1, Dimond took a fastball from Nick Davidson and stroked the home run to right-center. His 15th home run of the season allowed the Freeze to leap in front, 4-2.
"My job is to go out and play as hard as I can for the Freeze," said Dimond.
