The Caterpillars grabbed a win, 5-3, at Excavatar Park, overcoming a fine effort from Fort Worth pitcher Larry Viola. Viola went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs. With the win, the Caterpillars improved to 34-20.

Peoria took a 5-3 lead on Rich Alarcon's 8th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Alarcon hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Fort Worth pitcher Terry Dunne visibly frustrated.

"We were the better team," crowed Alarcon.
