Indianapolis Ambition starter Leo Kirk turned in a top-notch performance against the Joplin Fireballs at The Firepit. The result was a win for the Ambition, 3-2. The winning pitcher was Kirk, now 5-4. He tossed 8 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 6. Picking up his 2nd save was 22-year old left-handed pitcher Brian Oubre.
Indianapolis used the timely hitting of Brad Magen to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Ambition on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It was a solid team effort," said Magen after the game.
With the win, the Ambition have a record of 27-22.
