Falcons Rally to Eke Out Win
|
The Falcons had to overcome a fine effort from Thunder Bay pitcher Brett Johnson to grab a narrow 5-4 win at McClure Field. Johnson went 7 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. George Thomas got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. The Black Bears, now 17-34, have lost 7 in a row.
The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Mike McCain came to bat in the bottom of the 11th. Facing Thunder Bay pitcher Dave Bustos, he hit a 1-0 curveball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Forest Acres on top, 5-4.
"This place sure got loud," said Vic Eassson, the Forest Acres manager.
