Calgary Earns 2-1 Win
|
Both teams had their chances, but the Calgary Hitmen eventually prevailed.
In a low-scoring tilt between the Calgary Hitmen and the Memphis Privateers, Dan Wallace, who leads the RAAA in wins with 7, was the difference-maker. The Calgary right-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win. Wallace, the winner, moves to 7-2. He threw 9 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up no walks.
Calgary got a clutch hit from Gary Kunitz. The pinch hitter launched a 2-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a kill shot.
"No one can call baseball boring," said Hitmen manager Austin Alexander. "Not after a game like that."
The first-place Hitmen have won 5 in a row.
