Herrera Brilliant -- Fires No-Hitter
|
The Minneapolis Freeze relied on no-hit stuff from starter Ramiro Herrera to defeat the Joplin Fireballs 14-0 at The Firepit today.
"It's quite a thrill," Herrera told the media afterward. "This is a top-notch league. A no-hitter against any team in the league is something special. I can't believe I did it."
To get his name logged in the TMLAAA records, he stopped Joplin cold and hitless, surrendering 3 walks and fanning 11 of the 32 batters he faced.
Minneapolis manager Johnny Vallance was in a jovial mode after the game, kidding with reporters that Herrera "made managing easy today."
"I didn't have hardly any decisions to make like I usually do," he said. "I didn't even have to come up with a pinch hitter."
So far this season Herrera has a record of 3-3 with 71 strikeouts and 29 walks in 65.2 innings and a 4.11 ERA.
