Mustangs Suffer One-Run Loss at Memphis
|
Memphis picked up a win at Privateers Grounds, bumping off the Billings Mustangs, 4-3. Pitcher Kirk Hunt was a major reason the Privateers emerged victorious. Hunt, now 1-0, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 6, walking 5, and allowing 2 runs. The save was credited to Brendon Wager, his 10th.
Jon Fregeau had a big solo home run for the Privateers in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Memphis leading 3-2 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from 26-year old right-handed pitcher Jeremy Hillman and punished it. The result was his 7th home run of the season, which put the Privateers on top, 4-2.
Memphis manager Ross Allan commended his team for "banging out a nice win."
The Privateers, at 22-23, sit in 5th place in the RCL AAA Bobby Cox Division.
