Fairfield Topples Calgary, 5-2

The Fairfield Flash got a stellar effort from pitcher Josh Wucherer, helping Fairfield score a win over the visiting Calgary Cowboys, 5-2. Wucherer, the winner, moves to 2-5. He threw 5.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 2 and giving up 3 walks. Angelo Perez collected save number 1.
The Flash got a big at-bat from center fielder Matt Gibson. For the game, Gibson went 1-3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 11th home run of the season gave Fairfield a 2-1 lead.
Fairfield manager Edward Batkin was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys played hard, they played all the way through," he said.
With this game in the books, Fairfield is 23-29, Calgary 30-21.
