Firebirds Drop Outlaws, 8-7

The Albany Firebirds picked up a win at Capital Grounds, knocking off the Baton Rouge Outlaws, 8-7. On the mound for Albany was right-hander Jim Metcalfe. He played a key role in the triumph. Metcalfe yielded 4 runs over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 1, and struck out 7. His record improves to 1-0. The Firebirds saw their win-loss record go to 21-22. At the same time, the Outlaws fell to 21-22.
Gabe Bourdeau, who is tied for 10th in the TAAA in triples with 2, helped out the Albany cause in the bottom of the first inning with a 2-run single. For the game, the left fielder went 2-4 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"You can't hate how you win if you win," said Albany skipper Vicente Vargas.
