Redbirds Squelch Wind Offense in Shutout Win
|
The Candiac Redbirds and Waimea Wind completed their game despite the rain.
The Candiac Redbirds went home winners at The Wind Tunnel, thanks in large part to starter Gene Legrow. Legrow silenced the Waimea Wind, enabling Candiac to grab the 3-0 win. Legrow went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 3, and struck out 8. His record improves to 7-2.
Candiac used the timely hitting of Cameron Howells to capture the win. The catcher socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Redbirds ahead, 2-0. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was an important one.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Candiac manager Vicente García.
Candiac is now 32-18, 4½ games up in the TMLAAA Joe Torre Division.
