El Paso Wins, 6-5, Over Tornadoes
|
The Kansas City Tornadoes got a superb performance from pitcher John Nauss, but the El Paso Mavericks still won the game, 6-5. Nauss threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball. The win went to Alan Williams in relief. His record improves to 2-0. J.P. Larson took the loss. Morgan Henn closed out the game, earning his 6th save.
Had Nate Perlson not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Perlson hit a 2-run single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Mavericks.
"I like the roll we're on," said El Paso manager Lorenzo Castillo.
The Mavericks raised their record to 13-9.
