Freeze Come Up Short at Vancouver
Pitcher Yoshiyuki Matsuda was sensational for the Vancouver Canadians in his team's 2-1 triumph over the Minneapolis Freeze. Matsuda received player of the game honors, while picking up the win. The winning pitcher was Matsuda, now 5-2. He tossed 5 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 5. The 5th-place Canadians improved to 24-25.

Luke Butner aided the Vancouver cause with a run-scoring double in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the shortstop was 1 for 3 with a double.

"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Vancouver skipper José Parra. "I can't complain."
