Sphinx Need Extra Frames to Get Past Fireballs
|
Salvador Andino was instrumental in his team's 8-4 triumph over the Joplin Fireballs. The third baseman was 1-2 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Cairo Sphinx. Martin Blank picked up the save for Cairo, his 1st of the year. The first-place Sphinx have a one-game lead in their division.
The game was all tied up in the top of the 14th, until Andino delivered big-time for Cairo, stroking a dramatic grand slam home run off Victor Benavirez. The game-changing hit put the Sphinx on top, 8-4.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Andino. "And not try to do too much."
