Sphinx Throttle Fireballs, 5-1
|
The Cairo Sphinx went home winners at The Firepit, thanks in large part to starter James Jostle. Jostle silenced the Joplin Fireballs, enabling Cairo to grab the 5-1 win. The win was Emilio Peres's in relief. His record improves to 2-4. Joel Rawlinson took the loss for Joplin. The Sphinx go to 25-22, putting them second in the RCL AAA Tony La Russa Division.
Cairo used the clutch hitting of Yoshiro Allen to capture the win. The right fielder drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to give the Sphinx the lead, 2-1. For the game, Allen had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.
"For the most part, I made good pitches when I needed to," said Jostle.
