Cowboys Win, 6-1
|
Josh Caldwell, who is tied for 5th in the RAAA in wins with 4, never let the Fireballs get in a groove. The left-hander used his bread and butter, his fastball, to pitch the Cowboys to a win, 6-1. Caldwell yielded 1 run over 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 4, and struck out 7. His record improves to 4-1. Calgary, now 25-13, holds down second place in the RCL AAA Tony La Russa Division.
Calgary used the clutch hitting of Michael Morley to snag the win. The catcher drilled a grand slam home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Cowboys ahead, 6-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.
"Josh gave us a heck of an effort," said Calgary manager Thomas Hughes.
