Black Bears Win at Fairfield, 5-2
|
Thunder Bay starter Jesse Bowen pitched effectively against the Fairfield Flash at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The left-hander led his team to a 5-2 win. Bowen went the distance for Thunder Bay. He gave up 2 earned runs on 9 hits. The 5th-place Black Bears improved to 20-25.
Thunder Bay used the timely hitting of Jeff Urban to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run single in the top of the second inning to put the Black Bears on top, 3-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"If I go out there and help the team win, that's all you can do," said Bowen.
