The Fairfield Flash powered past the Indianapolis Ambition, 8-1, at Ken Griffey Jr. Plaza. Bill Matthews provided some of the pop. He was 1-4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Fairfield, now 30-8, has won 11 straight games.

With Fairfield leading 3-0 in the top of the fourth, Matthews batted against Indianapolis pitcher Jarrod Brown. Matthews hit a sinker to right-center for a grand slam home run. His 8th home run of the season put the Flash on top, 7-0.

"Eventually, the carousel ride will end," said Matthews. "But for now, we'll do our best to enjoy it."
