Cacti Lose Late to Swallowtails
|
The State College Swallowtails locked up a win at Albuquerque Sports Stadium, knocking off the Albuquerque Cacti, 1-0. On the mound for State College was right-hander Luis Acevedo. He played a major role in the triumph. The Swallowtails, at 12-23, sit in last place in the RCL AAA Bobby Cox Division.
Kai Waga came through with a big-time hit for State College. The catcher smacked a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 1-0. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"We were trying to do a difficult thing -- winning a game without scoring," said Albuquerque manager Randy Haynes. "That's not going to work out."
