Black Bears Score Late to Win, 3-1
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Thunder Bay Black Bears and the Calgary Cowboys, Alejandro Aragon, who is tied for 3rd in the RAAA with a 8.7 K/9 rate, proved to be the difference. The Thunder Bay right-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-1 Black Bears win. Thunder Bay reliever Forest Woolfrey picked up the win, upping his record to 1-5. Sandy Briseno was saddled with the loss. The second-place Black Bears hiked their record to 20-15.
Matt McIntyre came through with a big-time hit for Thunder Bay. The catcher smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 2-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
McIntyre attributed the win to his team's "concerted effort."
