Cacti Cut Down Canadians, 5-1
|
Albuquerque and Vancouver met at Stanley Park in front of a lively crowd.
The Albuquerque Cacti got a stellar performance from pitcher Doug Castro, who handcuffed the Vancouver offense en route to a 5-1 win at Stanley Park. The winning pitcher was Castro, now 4-2. He tossed 8 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 6. Rickey Turner got the save, the 8th for him this season.
A crucial at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd and no one out in the top of the fourth inning. That's when third baseman Beau Dabrowski, who is tied for 4th in the RAAA with a .417 on-base percentage, drew a walk. The Cacti went on to win.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Castro said after the game.
The second-place Cacti now have a win-loss record of 22-18.
