Hernandez Goes Off, But Argonauts Win
|
It was a fun time at Golden Fleece Park, where the Antioch Coal Miners and Astoria Argonauts tangled.
The Antioch Coal Miners got a sterling performance from left fielder Luis Hernandez, but the Argonauts still prevailed, 14-9. Hernandez was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He belted 2 home runs, while adding 6 RBI and scoring twice. Astoria reliever Chris Walker picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. John Yates took the loss.
Mike Strouse, who is rated as the 83rd best prospect by BNN, helped out the Astoria cause in the bottom of the fourth inning with a 2-run double. For the game, the right fielder went 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.
"It was offense that won us the game," said winning manager Tom Robertson.
The second-place Argonauts improved to 21-18.
