Thrilling Walk-Off Win for Freeze
|
The Freeze grabbed a win, 3-1, at The Ice Box, overcoming a fine effort from Joplin pitcher Edwin Santiago. Santiago went 8 innings and allowed no earned runs. Minneapolis is now 18-19, Joplin 20-15.
Mike Mathers was the walk-off hero for Minneapolis. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Freeze pinch hitter hit a dramatic 2-run home run to send the teams home.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Minneapolis manager Johnny Vallance.
