Paul Alexander pitched well, but the Joplin Fireballs still lost the game, falling, 3-0, to the Hendersonville Hens at The Firepit. John Richardson closed out the game, earning his 5th save. Early on, the Hens, at 22-9, have put the pedal to the metal.

The Hens got a big at-bat from second baseman Matt Cano. For the game, Cano went 1 for 3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the fifth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Hendersonville a 2-0 lead.

"Bottom line," said Joplin skipper Daniel Petro, "we didn't play well enough to win."
