Led by Freddie Carter, the Antioch Coal Miners defeated the Peoria Caterpillars, 10-0. Carter, a native of Greenbelt, Maryland, was 4 for 4 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 5 for the Coal Miners. Peoria, with the loss, is still a hardy 21-9.

Early in the game, Carter had a grand slam home run for Antioch. It was his 9th home run of the season and put the Coal Miners on top, 4-0.
