Mustangs Clip Coal Miners in Tight Contest

It was a good time at Cobb Field, where fans came to watch the Antioch Coal Miners and Billings Mustangs get after it.
Antioch center fielder Sergio Rivera was sensational. He went 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Billings beat the Coal Miners, 7-5. Rivera was named the player of the game despite the loss. Reliever Mudasser Sabzvari picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Matthew Varga took the loss. Kouichi Hayashi recorded the save for Billings, his 4th of the season.
Billings right fielder Mike Rizzo had a key at-bat for the Mustangs in the bottom of the eighth inning. Facing Antioch pitcher Matthew Varga, Rizzo hit a 2-run home run to make the score 6-5, Billings. For the day, he was 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Billings manager Jorge Magana.
The Coal Miners fall to 16-17 and continue their uneasy start to the 2044 season.
