Dallas registered a win at Metroplex Park by beating the El Paso Mavericks, 5-2. Pitcher Jim Miller was one reason why the Texans triumphed. Dallas is off to a sluggish start, getting just their 7th win in 20 games.

Vince Harris, who finished 3rd in the RCL in on-base percentage with .395 last year, took El Paso hurler Billy Dionne deep in the bottom of the fifth. His 2-run home run put the Texans on top, 3-1. In all, Harris had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 3.

"Jim commanded the zone from bottom to top," said Dallas manager Lester Burrow.
